Sania Mirza was born on November 15, 1986 in India. She began her tennis career in 2003. She is well know for her powerful forehand ground strokes in tennis.

Her father, Imran Mirza, is a sports journalist. She was coached by him at the age of 6.

She is the Indian woman to reach the 4th round of a Grand Slam tournament ( US Open in 2005). She was awarded the Arjuna award in tennis for the year 2004. Her height is 1.73 m i.e, 5' 8" and her weight is 57 kg.
